A new docuseries dedicated to unearthing the little-told stories of Black Canadian experiences is as much about the present as it is about relearning the past, says its showrunner. “Black Life: Untold Stories” traces 400 years of contributions that helped shape the nation and underpin ongoing efforts toward racial justice, says executive producer Leslie Norville.

“There’s still a lot of work that needs to be done here in Canada and the first step is grappling with our history,” says Norville, whose doc credits include 2021’s pandemic hospital portrait “The First Wave.”
