Community leaders will gather this weekend for a special event to recognize and revive all-Black towns in Oklahoma and abroad.
Cymone Davis is the CEO of Black Towns Municipal Management. She joined us at 9 in the morning to talk about what’s going on this weekend. Cymone is the former town manager of Tullahassee, Oklahoma. Tullahassee is the oldest, surviving all-Black town in Oklahoma.
She moved to Tulsa through the Tulsa Remote program in 2020.
According to the Oklahoma Historical Society, there are 14 all-Black towns in the state. There used to be more than 50 in Oklahoma.
The events kick off at 6 p.m. on Nov. 10 and ends at 10 a.m. on Nov. 13.
