A celebration of Black women’s art, culture, and creativity is underway at Tougaloo College this weekend. Mississippi native and award-winning actress Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor is bringing together women artists from across the country for a multi-day event designed to inspire, uplift, and empower. The event, “The Convocation: A Gathering of Black Women Artists,” runs Oct. 31 through Nov. 2 on Tougaloo’s historic campus. Admission is free, but registration is required.
Ellis-Taylor says the gathering highlights the foundational role Black women have played in shaping culture around the world.
