The Kentucky Performing Arts Center put together an event centered on empowering the community on Sunday.

The Black Boy Narratives took center stage on Sunday, Nov. 30, with the goal of creating a safe and welcoming space for Black men and boys in Louisville. The name comes from a play written by Louisville native Christian Loriel Lucas after conducting a series of interviews with Black men in the area, sharing their life experiences.

The day featured music, vendors, a writing workshop, and two table readings of the play that inspired the event.

Organizers said they wanted to paint a positive image of the black male community in Louisville.
