Looking at the large, open space with a huge, brightly coloured mural, you would never suspect that this space was once a 7-Eleven.

“It had giant fridges in the back, it only had one washroom, the space was less open and clean, and it didn’t have the stage, which is something that we added,” Jamila Douhaibi, executive director of the B.C. Black History Awareness Society, told CBC’s All Points West.

“It’s just kind of transformed into this beautiful open space that I think the community will really enjoy.”
