Houston celebrated its 190th birthday Saturday with cake, historic house tours and a look back at the people that transformed a once-small settlement along Buffalo Bayou into one of the nation’s largest and most diverse cities.
About 40 people gathered at the Heritage Society’s museum gallery downtown for an afternoon celebration featuring well-known historian Mister McKinney, one day before the city’s official birthday on Aug. 30.
