Many of the most powerful and influential companies in America have outlined their commitment to racial equity and pledged to hire Black talent and strengthen minority representation in the C-suite.

As an African American woman and an educator, I am deeply heartened by this unprecedented level of corporate support for diversity. A coalition of leading corporations, OneTen, recently announced its goal to create one million careers for Black talent in America. Other corporations have expressed similarly impressive commitments.

As the president of Bloomfield College, the only private Predominantly Black Institution in New Jersey, I urge OneTen and all corporate leaders committed to racial and economic equity to include PBIs in their search for Black and other minority talent. PBIs must be part of any corporate recruitment that aims to change the economic future of those harmed by systemic racism.
