Pensacola City Councilwoman Teniadé Broughton will host an event next month to highlight five museum exhibits in downtown Pensacola dedicated to Black culture, history and art.
The event, called “Highlights in Black,” is a night out that will allow participants to visit the exhibits for free.
“This is the first time in my memory that Pensacola has featured this amount of exhibits that highlight Black culture,” Broughton said. “That’s why I named it the ‘Highlights in Black.'”
The event will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, and will conclude at the 309 Punk Museum for an afterparty from 9 to 11 p.m. All are welcome and are encouraged to wear “vintage chic” and “modern dandy” attire.
Free parking will be available at the Florida Public Archaeology Network and Destination Archaeology Resource Center, 207 E. Main St. in Pensacola. That also will serve as a meeting spot for the start of the event.
