Local high school students got the chance to learn from Black business leaders and other important figures in the community on Saturday.

The Young Black Leadership Alliance held its RISE Leadership Summit at the Charlotte Convention Center.

Students even heard from Panthers’ safety Myles Hartsfield.

The summit was designed for Black high school students to build connections while sharing advice on leadership and service.

Tammy Martin, the co-founder of The Young Black Leadership Alliance, said the event is all about building future leaders.

“When you look at these young students, you are looking at the future. You’re looking at potential. You’re looking at hope. You’re looking at, wow, a legacy,” said Martin.
