The event was hosted by Black Wall Street AVL, which uplifts and connects local Black business owners.

More than 50 Black-owned businesses took part in the event, which ran from May 27-30, in the River Arts District.

“It’s been phenomenal in the sense that so many people have sold out. We intentionally have ensured that people are doing business and here to enjoy themselves, but that our BIPOC communities and entrepreneurs are getting the necessary drummed up business to do what they need to do after this, to scale, or to pay a car note, or to pay for a month’s, for two month’s rent. Those things are what we really want to do. We want to affect cash registers, we want to affect people’s bottom line, which is creating wealth, making money,” said Bruce Waller, a co-founder of GRINDfest.
