Black Knoxville entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to showcase and pitch their business ideas and win a $5,000 grant on June 19 during The Crown Pitch Competition.
The competition was created by The Women, a company created by a group of six Black women who provide access to capital via interest-free micro loans to small black businesses.
The event will be at at 6 p.m. June 19 the Old City Performing Arts Center, 111 State St., and the public is invited to attend. The competition also will be a place to celebrate Juneteenth, which is when it is taking place.
“We’re looking for everybody to really have a good time, celebrate the holiday, and specifically our Black entrepreneurs,” Deidre Harper, a founder of The Women, told Knox News. “We know that day means a lot to our Black, African-American community.”
